ASUS Launched Its First Ever ROG Phone And It's Insane

Like the usual, ASUS is kicking off this year's Computex 2018 in Taiwan with a huge bang. First in their line up is the surprise announcement of the very first ROG Phone. There is no gimmick in here, it is a real deal ROG smartphone. It is an overkill of an Android smartphone all equipped with its own ROG interface, vapor cooling technology, gaming accessories, overclocked processor and more. It is really like the smartphone version of ASUS ROG gaming laptops that we know and love.

As you may already know, ASUS is known for producing the best gaming machines in the industry, be it graphics cards, motherboards, PCs, or laptops, ASUS is always one of the big names you will see at the top. And today, they are extending it to the smartphone devices and the ROG Phone is definitely the first of many to come.

The specs

The ASUS ROG Phone sports a massive 6-inch 18:9 display with full HD+ resolution across. On the screen alone, it is equipped with 90Hz refresh rate, which according to The Verge means the screen refreshes 90 times per second. That should guarantee the smoothest viewing experience to users. Definitely perfect for gaming.

Being a gaming centric device means having a beast-level processor inside it and ASUS made sure to punch in the best and fastest in town. This phone is embedded with a specially created or some would say "overclocked" 2.9GHz octa-core Snapdragon 845 chip. Alongside this beast is 8GB of RAM and Adreno 630 GPU. And then a 512GB internal storage.

And then the smartphone specifications are present in this device like connectivity functions as well as Android 8.1 Oreo version, 4G LTE support, fingerprint scanner, and dual camera setup on the back.

Powering the device is a large 4000mAh battery which according to ASUS supports rapid charge tech as well.

The design

One of the most beautiful thing about the ASUS ROG Phone is its design. It is unmistakably a Republic of Gamers-inspired smartphone.  Outside appearance is very aggressive. It is so ROG looking smartphone, if you know what I mean. On its back is the ROG logo and it is equipped with company's own RGB technology which means you can customize the colors and its movement through its own interface.

The accessories

The gaming experience this handset would like to provide does not really end with the phone itself. ASUS made sure to create a few interesting, cool, and exciting accessories that optionally come along with it. These accessories will enable users to comfortably charge the phone while playing their games, extend battery life, use dual screen functionality with its own gamepad/controller, keep the phone from overheating when playing heavy games, extend the display to a TV screen, and even turn it into a whole PC machine all with support to monitor, mouse, and keyboard.
