Nokia 7.1 with dual rear ZEISS camera is Now Officially Launched

Equipped with dual rear camera with ZEISS optics, HMD Global has formally launched the new Nokia 7.1 through an event held by the company in London.

The Nokia 7.1 sports a large 5.84-inch Full HD+ display with notch and boasts HDR10 support which HMD Global calls as a PureView Display panel.

This Android One smartphone falls under the mid-range category, but looking at its specs, it's quite a powerful and sleek one both in terms of specs and design. Embedded right at its core is an octa-core Snapdragon 636 processor paired with either 3GB or 4GB of RAM and default storage option between 32GB and 64GB. Still supports microSD card via SIM 2 slot up to 400GB.

Apart from its specs and design, the camera department is one of the most exciting things about this phone. On the back it has dual rear camera setup with ZEISS optics for a much better smartphone camera photography. Here we are looking at a 12MP + 5MP combo where they have f/1.8 and f/2.4 apertures, respectively. On the front is an 8MP selfie camera. The "bothie" camera features, unique to Nokia smartphones, is still here. What it does is it simply allows users to capture videos and photos using both the front and rear camera at the same time.

Being a midrange device in the Android world, it is so nice to know that HMD Global decided to put a USB Type-C port in this one rather than the usual microUSB port which almost all of the well known smartphone brands still use up to this date. USB Type C offers a lot of enhancements design, performance, and use wise.

If there is one let-down on this device, I think it would be the 3060mAh battery which is quite small in today's battery standards in smartphones. However, HMD Global made sure to include a fast charge technology that the company says can do 50% charge in just 30 minutes.

Software wise, the Nokia 7.1 runs on Android 8.1 Oreo. An Android Pie update is now on the way, in case you would like to know. Like many other Nokia phones, it is also part of the Android One program.

What is the Android One program by Google? It is kind of a standard set by Google hardware and software wise together with manufacturers like HMD Global. This is an unmodified or stock version of Android OS. Regular security and software updates directly from Google is also part of the deal here.
