Top 6 Things I Like About the Huawei Mate 20 Pro

At an event in London, Huawei revealed not just one, two, or even three new smartphones but four. Yes that is right, four new freaking amazing smartphone and tons of new cool features that a true flagship smartphone of 2018 should have. In addition to the usual Mate 20 standard and Pro variants, the Chinese electronics giant also announced a Porsche Edition called Mate 20 RS and a new Mate 20 X variant which is a gaming-focused one.

But in this post I will be talking about the Mate 20 Pro, which is a beast of a smartphone. And also while there are tons to cover on the Mate 20 Pro's capabilities, here, I will be only talking about the top six features I immediately liked about this smartphone as it was being unveiled.

6. Massive 4200mAh battery

iPhone Xs Max, Galaxy Note 9, Galaxy S9+, P20 Pro, Find X, all of those flagship smartphones that this Mate 20 Pro is competing against have 4000mAh of battery and below. And knowing a powerful and feature packed flagship smartphone like the Mate 20, you will definitely be using it a lot of time for a lot of reasons and occasions. So having a more massive battery pack really makes sense. Huawei also mentioned that this phone's battery went through rigorous testings to ensure its safety to users.

5. 40W SuperCharge technology

What makes even more exciting about the Mate 20 Pro is it has a super fast charging tech and calling it SuperCharge. You know 4200mAh using a regular charger will surely take time to get re-charged. But with Huawei's 40W charger, the company promises us to have 70% of juice in just 30-minute charging time.

4. Leica Triple Rear Cameras

Similar to also this year's P20 Pro, the Mate 20 Pro has three Leica cameras on its back. And those are in 40MP f1.8 as the main camera, 8MP f2.4 telephoto lens, and a new 20MP ultra-wide angle shooter configurations. And while we are missing a dedicated monochrome lens this time around, Huawei replaced it with an ultra wide angle lens pegged at 20MP.  The photos and videos produced by the Mate 20 Pro I have been seeing online so far have been nothing but great.

3. In-screen fingerprint scanner

Yes, Huawei is not the first one to sport this particular in-display fingerprint scanner, there was Vivo NEX. But from the big guys in the smartphone scene, Huawei is the first. Though not as fast as the conventional fingerprint scanner, it still looks great and works really well. It looks more futuristic as well like the Wireless Reverse Charging feature.

2. Wireless Reverse Charging

The back of the Huawei Mate 20 Pro is made of glass. With that, it comes with a wireless charging technology which is kind of expected now for a flagship device. But it does not end there, the Chinese company made a surprise announcement - Wireless Reverse Charging. This one right here is something a lot of smartphone enthusiasts didn't see coming, at least this year. Wireless reverse charging is one of those features that Huawei managed to keep out of leaks and rumors all this time, at least as far as I can remember. And what it does is simply being able to charge another smartphone that supports Qi wireless charging system, such as the iPhone. All users have to do is simply activate the feature in the Mate 20 Pro settings and then press the other phone's back to the Mate 20 Pro's rear glass panel and boom, it will begin charging. Cool right?

1. Twilight color variant

When it comes to implementing color selections on its smartphone offerings, Huawei is definitely one of  those companies who knows how to do it. With the Mate 20 Pro, it will be available in four color options -  Black, Twilight, Emerald Green and Midnight Blue. Every color implementation is great but it's the Twilight variant caught my attention immediately. It's just so  beautiful.
