Honor Magic 2 Unveiled with SIX Cameras, In-Display Fingerprint Scanner and Kirin 980 Chip

So how many cameras do we really need on a smartphone? Huawei's sub-brand Honor thinks up to six of them - three on the rear and another three on the front. Well at least for now. Who knows what else is coming out in the near future. And yes, that six-camera equipped smartphone is now officially announced in the company's home country of China - meet the Honor Magic 2.

There are other cool things going on with this new Honor Magic 2, but it's main selling point in the implementation of six cameras and the slider that hides and reveals the triple selfie camera setup.

Rear

16MP main camera with  f/1.8 aperture, 24MP monochromatic secondary camera with f/1.8 aperture and a 16MP f/2.2 ultra-wide lens camera.

Front

16MP main shooter with f/2.0 aperture and additional two 2MP cameras with f/2.2 aperture.

One more exciting thing about this device is apart from sporting many design queues from its parent company's Huawei P20 Pro, the Honor Magic 2 has an all-screen display that does not sport a notch, and the triple front cameras are not even on the screen, they are hidden in a sliding mechanism of the device. Looks like the slider phones are now going back in the scene, thanks to these Chinese smartphone makers.

As for its display, there is a massive 6.39-inch Full HD+ AMOLED display with 2340x1080 screen resolution. And then for the processor, it packs the same chip found on the Huawei P20 and Mate 20 series of flagship devices and of course an in-display fingerprint scanner which is currently only available with Mate 20 Pro (unboxing and hands-on).

For storage and RAM configurations, there will be a 6GB/128GB, 8GB/128GB, and 8GB/256GB variants which all will be available in Red, Blue, and Black gradient colors. See more specs below.
