ASUS ZenFone Max Pro M2 Arrives in PH, Priced

On December 11, ASUS Philippines, has officially launched its newest, latest, and brand new looking ZenFone Max Pro M2 smartphone. I wanna say right off the bat that this is the most beautiful and powerful ZenFone Max ASUS has ever made so far, indeed, it's the #ReimagineTheMax.

It is the same Max that we know from the popular ZenFone Max series from ASUS, but more awesome.

There are a lot of things to get more excited about this new ZenFone Max Pro M2 as ASUS is bringing in more features and specs from its more high-end series of ZenFones into this device. One of those is the notch, I know, not all users are fans of that cutout. But I am pretty sure there are other users who would love to experience this design trend on a more affordable yet powerful and elegant-looking smartphone, and for that I am really glad what ASUS decided to do with this latest installment. Plus, the 6.3-inch Full HD+ display is being protected by a Corning Gorilla Glass 6. In case you don't know, this handset makes the second phone from ASUS to sport that kind of protections, just after the ROG Phone.

In addition to the new 13MP selfie-camera housing notch, the phone's back panel design is one of the newest aesthetics that the ZenFone Max Pro M2 is bringing to the table. This 3D curved glossy back plate's looks, ASUS is calling it Dynamic Optical Finish. It is curved which provides users not just better grip but also a premium feel whenever being handled with one or two hands.

Powering this smartphone is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 processor paired with Adreno 512 GPU. Alongside it is a massive 6GB RAM and 128GB internal storage. There is a 4GB RAM 64GB ROM variant of this smartphone as well and it is also coming to the Philippines. And like the previous ZenFone Max Pro M1 and other Max iterations, we are still getting a triple SIM slot on this one. Two for SIM cards and a dedicated microSD slot for storage expansion of either 256GB or 1TB.

As for its camera offering, there is the 13MP front camera in the notch as mentioned already, and then on the back is a dual setup at 12MP + 5MP combo. The main sensor is equipped with a Sony IMX 486 sensor for better lowlight photography and the secondary is used for depth sensing functionality for a more dramatic bokeh and portrait photos. ASUS also mentioned that this is the very first ZenFone Max to sport an Electronic Image Stabilization or EIS feature right out of the box so we can finally say goodbye to shaky photos and videos. Its predecessor, the M1, also just had the EIS, but it was rolled out via over-the-air software update. Another addition to the phone's camera functionality is the AI Scene Detection, the same feature found on the ZenFone 5, which according to ASUS can detect up to 13 difference scenes and intelligently adjust the compositions for the best possible photo qualities.

Running the Max Pro M2 is a stock version of Android 8.1 Oreo, similar to its direct predecessor. And then of course, the series' signature, massive battery and reverse charging. There is a huge 5000mAh battery that powers this phone, and yes it can also double as a powerbank to other devices or smartphones through its reverse charging technology. ASUS Philippines claims this huge of a battery can last up to 35 days on standby mode or up to "2 days non-stop use."
