Xiaomi Mi Play Officially Launched with Less Than P9K Price Tag

The Chinese smartphone giant, Xiaomi, seems to be not done with 2018 yet as a few days before the year officially ends, they just launched one more smartphone for its home country, at least. And that's the Xiaomi Mi Play. Upfront, this is a beautiful smartphone, thanks to its unique tear-drop shaped notch that is much more similar to Samsung's Infinity-U notch that they showed during their developers' conference a few weeks back than to the regular tear-drop notch we have seen from other makers, its gradient-finish back panels, and most of all, its super affordable price tag.

Out of the box, the Xiaomi Mi Play sports a quite huge 5.84-inch display with a Full HD+ resolution. Powering this phone is a MediaTek P35 processor with 4GB RAM and a native 64GB storage which we suppose it also an expandable one via microSD card slot.

On its back sits a dual camera set-up pegged at 12MP+2MP combo together with the fingerprint scanner while on the front, in the notch, is an 8MP selfie shooter.

Xiaomi Mi Play specs:
  • 5.84-inch Full HD+ Display
  • 2280 x 1080 resolution
  • Mediatek P35 octa-core processor
  • 4GB RAM
  • 64GB internal storage
  • Supports microSD card
  • 12MP + 2MP dual rear camera
  • 8MP front camera
  • Android 8.1 Oreo
  • WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS
  • Dual SIM
  • 4G LTE
  • Fingerprint Scanner
  • 3000mAh battery
The Xiaomi Mi Play smartphone is officially priced in China at 1,099 Yuan or about Php8,400 when directly converted into Philippine peso.

The only sad news for now is that this device is currently a China-exclusive one. Plus, each purchase of this phone in the market will come with 10GB worth of free data per month for one year, something that would definitely make a big hit if also offered in the Philippines.

We don't have any words yet if this will ever be available in the Philippines as well. If or when it does, we will for sure know as soon as possible.
