Netflix Releases Brand New Trailer for Ultraman with First Season Landing on April 1

Netflix has just dropped a brand new trailer for its upcoming first season of Ultraman animated series, which you can watch above.

Being a "90s kids", Ultraman was one of those Japanese TV series I grew up watching together with others like Bioman, Shaider, Masked Rider Black, Masked Man to name a few. So needless to say that when Netflix announced that they will be making a new anime series based on the Ultraman universe, I was very excited. And now I am even more stoked as the new trailer is here and that I won't need to wait that long to finally see it in action as the Season 1 will land on the streaming platform this April 1.

Below is the official synopsis that Netflix released in November of last year together with the very first teaser trailer.

Several years have past since the events of Ultraman, with the "Giant of Light" now a memory, as it is believed he returned home after fighting the many giant aliens that invaded the Earth. Shin Hayata's son Shinjiro seems to posses a strange ability, and it is this ability, along with his father's revelation that he was Ultraman, that leads Shinjiro to battle the new aliens invading the Earth as the new Ultraman.

That "several years" has just been clarified by this new trailer, 12 years since the event of the original Ultraman series in the 60s. In other words, it is an official sequel to that series released decades ago. And instead of having the original Ultraman, Shin Hayata, as the main character in this installment, that title is now passed on to his son, Shinjiro.

Netflix did not mention how many episodes there will be in the first season and how long each episode will run, but I am guessing it could be between 20 and 30 minutes each just like in so many other animated series Netflix has adapted into the platform, and probably about 10 episodes.

The trailers so far already look pretty amazing and action-packed, I just hope that Netflix and the Ultraman creators won't stop here and will produce even more content either from this series or from other Japanese superhero hits that many of us loved back in the 80s and 90s.
