OnePlus CEO Confirms a OnePlus 7 Pro Variant is Coming

One of the biggest rumors about the upcoming OnePlus 7 smartphone is that the company will be introducing more than one device this time around as opposed to its previous releases. Here, rumors are referring to a standard OnePlus 7 and a Pro variants. Well, nothing had been confirmed yet until today when the company's CEO Pete Lau himself talked to The Verge and confirmed that a Pro model is indeed in the works and is ready to be unleashed.

Pete Lau confirmed to The Verge that a OnePlus 7 Pro is definitely coming, will have a significant upgrade on the display in which he hopes its "super-smooth and very crisp" display quality to "redefine fast and smooth" technology on smartphones. It was also added that a 5G option will be available as well.

Apart from what Pete shared that it took them three times as much time working on the display of the OnePlus 7 Pro compared to the previous models, nothing more was shared beyond those what he mentioned.

If we take a look at what the rumor mill has been claiming, OnePlus could be offering a 90Hz display refresh rate with QHD+ resolution on one of its upcoming smartphones. That's of course a much faster refresh rate than typical smartphones around which is usually around 60Hz. To this date, only a couple of devices offer this level of display technology on mobile phones, two of the phones we could think of are the Razer Phones with 120Hz and ASUS ROG Phone at 90Hz. If this report is indeed accurate, OnePlus will be the new player joining the party and of course, if this works really well both with the fans and enthusiasts, this could be the new trend in the smartphone scenes moving forward especially in the mobile gaming category.

The Verge noted that this super upgraded display will only be coming with the Pro variant. The standard OnePlus 7 phone will have a different story when launched altogether.

The official launch date has yet to be confirmed by OnePlus itself, but many are expecting to be sometime next month.
