Motorola One Action Launched With a Dedicated GoPro-Like Camera Lens

Motorola has just launched a brand new member of its "One" series which now officially goes by the name of Motorola One Action. Specs and looks wise, this smartphone is pretty much like the usual midrange smartphone that we can find around but it has that one unique offering that is never offered before by any other smartphone makers, at least as far as I can remember, and that is it has a third camera on the rear that is only dedicated in taking GoPro-like videos.

That third camera is the one with 16MP sensor and 117-degrees field-of-view angle giving users an action camera-like experience in capturing videos on a smartphone. Another unique feature this particular lens is it's capable of recording landscape videos even while the phone itself is in portrait orientation, something that I have never seen before on a smartphone. This feature really makes sense since capturing a fast moving scene while holding the phone naturally instead of horizontally is a lot easier. This is a good job for me. One drawback though, it can't capture photos, just videos.

For photos users will need to use the other two, 12MP and the 5MP cameras with depth sensor feature. On the front, situated right inside the punch hole cutout on the upper left of the screen, is a 12MP selfie camera.

The Motoroal One Action offers a 6.3-inch Full HD+ CinemaVision display with 21:9 aspect ratio. In its core is a Samsung Exynos 9609 processor paired with 4GB of RAM and 128GB storage with support to microSD card for additional storage. Powering the device right out of the box is Android 9 Pie, but since it will be part of the Android program outside of North America, it means it is upgradable to Android Q and Android R in the future.
