The new Realme 6 Pro is a beast

Yes, finally, Realme has officially launched its brand new smartphones under the number series, the Realme 6 (read more here)and Realme 6 Pro. The duo was formally launched at an event in India yesterday. In this post I will be talking more about the Pro model which packs tons of upgrades compared to the Realme 5 Pro last year. For example, there is now 90Hz display refresh rate on the screen which is now becoming one of the most sought after features from mobile gaming enthusiast. The selfie camera on this one is now a pair housed in a dual punch hole cutout. It is also the first smartphone powered by the latest Snadpragon 720G processor. All of that for an asking price that's not hard on the pocket, for sure.

What are the upgrades?

Perhaps the only question we fans have in mind as of this moment is "what's new on this one versus 2019's Realme 5 Pro?". I would say, a lot and are definitely worth the upgrade! For one, there is no waterdrop notch anymore, and I am happy to see that. Instead, it is now replaced with a pill-shaped cutout located on the upper left of the screen which now houses two cameras - 16MP and 8MP with AI beautification.

Are you a mobile gamer? You're going to like this new addition to the Realme 6 Pro. So apart from the powerful Snapdragon 720G processor buried right inside its core paired with Adreno 618 GPU, there is now the 90Hz refresh rate on this latest smartphone. In fact, the Realme 5 has it too. This means, the smartphone's 6.6-inch Full HD+ IPS display will be a delight to look at.

The Realme 6 Pro, just like the newly released Realme C3 in the Philippines, also comes pre-installed with the brand new Android 10 with Realme UI 1.0 right out of the box. Also on the inside is a huge 4300mAh battery with support to 30W fast charging technology. Realme says it can fully charge the 6 Pro in just one hour.

The cameras got upgraded too

On the back are still quad camera setup. Leading the charge is a 64MP shooter which is a Samsung GW1 sensor. Together with that primary camera are the 8MP (ultrawide), 12MP (telephoto), and 2MP (macro) lenses completing the squad. These cameras can record up to 4K videos and offer 20X zoom capability. On the front, the primary is pegged at 16MP and is a Sony IMX471 sensor, secondary selfie camera at 8MP.

Together with the usual awesome camera features on this device such as Super Nightscape 3.0, Slow-Mo, and video stabilization, one of the newest additions to the Realme 6 Pro is the 20x zoom functionality. Below are the photo samples, courtesy of Realme India website, showcasing how powerful it is.

The Realme 6 Pro will be released in three variants with up to 8GB RAM and 128GB internal storage. It still supports microSD card for storage expansion. Sadly, there is no 5G yet on this one. That network support currently belongs to X50 Pro 5G at the moment. It still got dual 4G LTE support though and a dedicated card slot for the microSD card. And since in-dsiplay fingerprint sensor does not work in IPS LCD panel, it is located on the side of the Realme 6 Pro.

The company is also introducing new color variants and design patterns on this new device as you can see in the promotional images here. It will be released in two color options, a Lightning Blue and Lightning Orange.
