ASUS ZenFone 7 and 7 Pro Now Officially Launched
After a series of leaks and unconfirmed rumors, ASUS has finally lifted the veil on its latest ZenFone smartpohone offerings - meet the ZenFone 7 and ZenFone 7 Pro.
The design of this new ASUS ZenFone 7 series is very similar to last year's ZenFone 6, which received positive reviews both from reviewers and users. That said, it includes the notch-less and cut-out less screen and of course the rotating or flipping main cameras. And while the design is pretty much unchanged, ASUS made sure to include some updates and enhancements to it.
One of the enhancements that we can find on the ZenFone 7 and ZenFone 7 Pro is found on the camera module. The Taiwanese company said that it can now withstand up to 200,000 flips, doubled since ZenFone 6 installment. To give us a very good perspective on it, that's equivalent to about 100 flips a day for the next five years, according to ASUS. Another noticeable change is the fingerprint reader, it is no longer situated on the back, but now on its side integrated with the power/lock key. ASUS is calling that key a smart key as apart from those functions, it can also be reconfigured with gestures such as tap or hold for other functions.
Both the ASUS ZenFone 7 and ZenFone 7 Pro are equipped with Samsung-manufactured AMOLED display at 6.67-inch each and full HD resolution. Of course, this brand new flagship ZenFone 7 offerings is not complete without the latest trend on smartphones these days, a 90Hz refresh rate and a 200Hz touch sampling rate. That's a first for a ZenFone smartphone. And while these devices are not targeted at hardcore mobile gamers, it can still do the job pretty easily, thanks to their Snapdragon 865 (vanilla model) and Snapdragon 865+ (Pro model). For RAM and ROM, the series offers up to 8GB and 256GB UFS 3.1 storage with microSD card support.
Just like in the previous ZenFone smartphones up to last year's ZenFone 6 which had a very limited release, the ZenFone 7 series also focus on its camera capabilities. And like the ZenFone 6, as you can see in the video embedded above, the ZenFone 7 series also sports flipping camera and instead of having dual shooter previously seen in its predecessor, it now has triple camera set up with an addition of a telephoto third snapper.
The main camera on the ZenFone 7 series boasts a 64MP camera equipped with Sony IMX686 sensor. This one can record up to 8K videos at 30fps and a 120fps slow-mo at 4K. Insane, right? The second camera, on the other hand, has 12MP ultrawide lens with Sony IMX363 sensor. And then there's the new addition, an 8MP telephoto camera that can do up to 3x optical zoom. Due to the camera module design, the phones do not have IP rating for waterproofing.
Both phones are equipped with massive 5000mAh batteries and now come with 30W Quick Charge 4.0 fast charge. As per ASUS, it should be able to charge the phones up to 60% (from zero) in just 34 minutes.
