How to Create your Maya username for Receiving and Sending Money

In case you have missed it, Maya just launched a new feature on their app where users like you and me can now create a personalized @username and use it to either receive or send payments to fellow Maya users within the app. If you are interested in making one for yourself and start using it instead of providing everyone your registered phone number every time you have to receive payments from  them, read on to see how you can set it up. 

This post assumes you have already created your own Maya account, downloaded the mobile app to your phone, and upgraded or verified your account. 

One thing to take note of before heading to the app and start creating your username, and it is a very important one, once you have created your username, it cannot be changed anymore. So you better double check or triple check the spelling before completing the process. 

How to create a personalized @username on Maya app. 

• Tap the "Profile" icon on the upper left corner of your Maya app
• Tap "Get Started" on the next screen
• Key in your preferred and unique @username (subject to availability) and hit confirm
• Enter the OTP code sent to your registered mobile number
• And that's it, you are done

Additional few reminders though. 

• Your username should be 3 - 24 characters in length
• You can include a period, underscore, and numbers
• Avoid using profanities, abusive words, hate speech, or discriminatory language
• Once again, usernames are permanent and cannot be changed

In case you forget your username, just head to your profile and you will see it right below your name, together with your registered mobile number.
