OPPO 's 'Camp Guard" Mobile Game Demo Shows Off Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 Ray Tracing Prowess

The new Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor has just been officially launched by Qualcomm. At the event, the company mentioned Ray Tracing quite a lot focusing on its potential power in providing a much more immersive mobile gaming experience in the coming flagship smartphones to be powered by this chip. To demonstrate how this would translate in the real world, OPPO and Qualcomm worked together in developing a mobile gameplay called Camp Guard flexing this new Mobile Ray Tracing technology. 

It was revealed that OPPO has been working with Qualcomm for quite some time now on real-time hardware-accelerated ray tracing technology. And this Camp Guard first-person shooter mobile game gives users a glimpse on how this would look like. Ray tracing technology enables the device to provide a more realistic graphics of the game, from how accurate the shadows and reflections would render on screen depending on the light source and the angle of the screen or user relative to objects. With this technology and rendering, it gives players close-to-reality viewing and gaming experience. 

This ray tracing technology has been available to PC and gaming consoles being enjoyed by gamers of the platforms. Today, OPPO and Qualcomm are making this a reality to mobile gamers as well. 

OPPO and Qualcomm optimized the PhysRay Engine 2.0 drivers which resulted to textures, shadows, and reflections appear smoothly on screen. The Camp Guard mobile gameplay of around 30 minutes run at 720p 60 fps at a room temperature device powered by the new Snapdragon 8 Gen 2.
