Motorola DROID Turbo is Now Officially Announced Packed With Monster Specs

Prior to this day, there were a number of leaks and rumors surrounded the then-upcoming Droid Turbo smartphone. Today most of those speculation were actually 100% accurate when Verizon Wireless and Motorola have officially announced the new member of the Droid device family, the Motorola DROID Turbo. And yeah it packs monster-sized specs that every body wants to have in their Android smartphone.

Motorola Droid Turbo takes the place of last year's Droid Ultra with the Droid Maxx and Droid Mini behind it. Below is a quick rundown of the specs and features found on the newest Verizon Wireless-exclusive smartphone.

Motorola DROID Turbo specs:

- 5.2" Quad-HD AMOLED Display
- 2560x1440 resolution, 565ppi
- Corning Gorilla Glass 3
- 2.7GHz quad-core Snapdragon 805 processor
- 32GB/64GB internal storage
- 21MP rear camera autofocus and dual LED flash
- 2.1MP front camera
- Android 4.4.4 Kitkat (Android Lollipop soon)
- Front-facing speaker
- 143.5 x 73.3 x 7.8 mm
- 169 grams
- Turbo Charger Support
- 3,900mAh battery

If you are familiar with the 2014 version of the Moto X, you will recognize that their design is very similar to each other especially the display size with 5.2 inches. However the internals on the Droid Turbo are the supersized versions of those found on the Moto X. This one here features a Quad-HD AMOLED display and that is equivalent to 2560x1440 resolution with eye-watering 565 pixels per inch.

The back panel homes the massive 21MP camera with autofocus and dual LED flash and it is capable of recording 4K videos at 24fps. On front is a relatively small 2MP camera which can record 1080p videos. The Motorola Droid Turbo runs a near-stock version of Android 4.4.4 Kitkat right out of the box but Motorola said that update to Android 5.0 Lollipop in coming soon.

One of the main highlights or focus of the Droid Turbo is the battery life where Verizon claims to last up to 48 hours on a single charge. Of course that will vary depending on how the device is used but still looks promising and real as it holds a yet another massive 3,900mAh battery size. With that big battery the device doesn't look bulky as what other devices look like when sporting big size battery packs. Along with the device is what the two companies calling a Turbo Charger accessory which can charge up the smartphone with up to 8 hours of battery life in just 15 minutes. Sounds cool right?

The Motorola Droid Turbo will be available on Verizon Wireless Network for $199.99 with the 32GB variant and $249.99 for a 64GB version both on a two-year contact. Pre-order is now available and the device will hit shelves starting October 30th.
