Samsung Galaxy S8 Mini in the Works?

It has been quite a long time since Samsung released a "mini" version of its flagship smartphone offering. If I remember it correctly, the last one we had was the Galaxy S5 Mini that was launched in 2014. Nothing ever followed that since and it seems that the Korean company does not really want to create these mini offerings anymore, however, if these new rumors are accurate then we could be seeing another S8 spinoff device soon. That's in addition to the Galaxy S8 Active, which is also expected to be unveiled soon.

The speculation about this Galaxy S8 Mini originated in China. A Chinese website called IT Home published an article about this device, together with a photo (posted above) where three Galaxy S8 phones are shown standing next to each other, claiming that Samsung is now working on the said S8 Mini device.

IT Home said that this alleged Galaxy S8 Mini will sport a 5.3-inch screen display. And that it will also bear designs extremely similar to the current Galaxy S8 flagships on the market. That being said, the Galaxy S8 Mini having the same infinity display design, users will feel like holding a 4.7-inch mobile phone in spite of this phone's 5.3" display. That's pretty exciting actually. Many users still find the Galaxy S8 and S8+ a little bigger for their hands or too tall for their short fingers' reach, so having a Mini variant of this device will for sure excite a lot of Samsung fans.

The report further says that this mini version will be powered by a slightly outdated and less powerful Snapdragon 821 processor instead of the latest Snapdragon 835 chip from Qualcomm. And as for memory and storage department, there will be 4GB RAM and 32GB default storage, IT Home claims.

If found to be true, Samsung is expected to sell first the Galaxy S8 Mini in South Korea followed by other countries shortly.

We will let you know if we hear additional details about this report. So stay tuned.
