Cherry Mobile formally announced the Flare X at an event held yesterday with the attendance of select bloggers and members of the media. Upon hearing what this new smartphone is to offer to the public, I was in awe. Specs and features are not that new, they are all high-end, up to date, everything a typical consumer would like top have on their phone and even the design is superb, but what makes it awesome is the price tag. Flagship level technical specifications for a mid-ranger price. Something most of us have been waiting for.
Thanks to the international smartphone brands like Xioami and Meizu for bringing their powerful devices here with a very competitive price tags. It was a game changer actually and turned out to be good for consumers here in the Philippines, after those success more small and big players started to follow the trend since then. Today Cherry Mobile is jumping into the fray with this Flare X offering. I know Cherry Mobile has released this more-power-less-expensive type of devices before, but I think this brand new phone is even more powerful under the same price range.
Most bang-for-the-buck smartphones right now offer HD (1280x720) display, like the extremely successful Alcatel Flash Plus, the Cherry Mobile Flare X sports rather higher one it's in Full HD with 1920 x 1080 resolution and with OGS (One-Glass Solution) layering, that should make the display crystal clear and closer to the touch panel than ever. For scratch and shatter protection there is the Corning Gorilla Glass 3 to the rescue.
Talking about the internals of the Flare X, there we have a 64-bit octa-core processor from MediaTek clocked at 1.7GHz and is partnered with a 3GB of RAM and an expandable 16GB internal storage. It's not clear up to much memory size it can handle but many are saying it's up to 64GB. As of the launch event, atleast, the device runs on Android 4.4 Kitkat OS however since it's a 64-bit chip and supports OTA update, Cherry Mobile says Android Lollipop update is definitely coming.
As for the cameras, on the back sits a 13MP shooter with flash and BSI technology for a brighter and clearer photos even in low light situations. There is also a Sony IMX214 sensor to make more robust and produce better images. On the front is a 5MP shooter all good for selfie pics and video calling activities. Standard connectivity features like WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS, NFC are also in, not to mention the inclusion of 3G and LTE network support. Dual-SIM dual-Standby are covered, so if users have more than two SIM cards that's not going to be a problem. What about the battery? 3,000mAh pack is under the back hood. All of those for only Php6,999.
